Sherri Bevis presently serves as the Executive Director for the Bay-Waveland Main Street Association. This volunteer based organization focuses on downtown development for these two communities with an emphasis on organization, promotions, design, and economic restructuring. She has many ties to the community and is excited about her work in helping revitalize these downtown areas of Hancock County. Mrs. Bevis has a strong background in communications and community activism. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Mississippi State University and a Master of Arts from The George Washington University in Higher Education Administration. She is a native of the Coast and has been a resident of Hancock County since she relocated from Washington, DC in 1995 where she worked for Senator Trent Lott. After moving back to the Coast she enjoyed staying home with her children for many years before she decided to return to work as a teacher, first with the Hancock County School District and then Coast Episcopal School. Sherri was hired in November of 2008 to develop the Main Street program for Hancock County where she works now. She is member of the Bay St. Louis Rotary Club and serves on the board for the Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County and the Hancock County Chapter of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association. She is thrilled to serve on the board for the Mind, Body, and Spirit Foundation as they encourage students to pursue a career in the field of education and also encourage the whole community to live a more healthy and productive lifestyle by making better choices for themselves and their families. |
